WRUP: Come On, Man, It's The '90s

Every week, just firstly of the weekend, we meet up with the WoW Insider workers and ask them, "What are you taking part in this week?" -- in any other case often called: WRUP. Be part of us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you are taking part in, too!

Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It is the '90s! Everyone's going to conventions these days!

Positive, it is in Southern California, and for lots of you, that is a great distance from home. But man, this is the '90s. They've planes now. And some of these planes even have air phones. You can hook up your 14.4k modem to a kind of and connect to your favorite Warcraft 2 BBS, possibly play slightly Legend of the Crimson Dragon from 20,000 ft. Why not? It is the '90s!

What's that? You say it is not the '90s -- it's 2011? Nicely, of course it is! I do know precisely what today is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and year on it. Everybody's acquired one -- everybody, that's, who's residing in the '90s.

BlizzCon, the most well liked occasion of the '90s, is developing in a mere two weeks. So in the present day, in addition to the usual query of "What are you enjoying?" (Super Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our top-notch writers (many of whom have Tripod pages) reply a bonus query: "What terrific recommendation do you may have for the go-go BlizzCon attending people of the '90s?"

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend can be spent ending my entry for the worldwide Writing Contest -- in different phrases, writing like a madwoman.

As for BlizzCon -- make certain you might have plenty of water alongside, the convention hall is larger than it looks! Present up for panels early, test the occasions schedule and determine what you need to hit in advance. Also -- comfy shoes. Significantly, you will be in your toes just about all day long. Comfy footwear are the very best!

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) I will be going to a different wedding this weekend but will otherwise be on the PTR getting notes for an upcoming Shifting on tanking and healing the three new 5-mans.

As for BlizzCon, I have yet to go, but if I had to guess from past experiences with tutorial conferences and the like, have only one bit of advice: Do not wear heels.

Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) (gplus.to/alexziebart) Been playing some Dead Island and hopefully will get a hefty quantity of co-op time in with a buddy of mine. Good coop video games are far more uncommon than they ought to be.

For BlizzCon, take more shirts than you think you'll want. If you get tremendous-sweaty, cease into your lodge room and alter shirts. It's better than being smelly and uncomfortable all day.

Chase Hasbrouck First WRUP /yay. Persevering with my feral soloing in challenge in WoW (when Kuwaiti latency allows), else taking part in SpaceChem on Steam. All the enjoyable of programming without the code!

BlizzCon: never been, but experience has taught me all the time to comply with the 3 W's when touring: water, weight, and walking (comfortably).

Daniel Desmond (@hazmacewillraid) I'll be doing slightly little bit of PTR spelunking, making an attempt out the new dungeons and paladin changes, but largely I'll be scratching just a few more tallies into my wall with a plastic spoon, counting the times until Skyrim releases.

As for BlizzCon, this might be my first! As such, I'll be sticking to my guildmates like black leather-based seats on a scorching summer time day.

Daniel Whitcomb (@DanielWhitcomb) Since my mage and warrior are on hold till the 4.3 goes live, I might see if I can solo me some more tier 5 for my warlock. I am additionally enjoying some Aquaria and Bastion (again) on Steam, so I may do some extra with those video games.

My recommendation? Hygiene. Particularly, double-, triple-, and quadruple-examine your travel bag. In case you miss something like a toothbrush or a shaving package, chances are you are going to should pay an arm and a leg to replace it.

Daybreak Moore (@dawnwow) Not taking part in something this weekend, however I'll be watching lots of StarCraft 2 and League of Legends at IPL3.

Recommendation for BlizzCon? Hmm ... Ready in the badge decide-up line isn't crucial if you do not should be the primary one into opening ceremonies. Simply pick up your badge whereas everyone is in line for the ceremonies and you'll be in and out in 5 minutes.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm nonetheless on my honeymoon in NYC, however once i get back I'll in all probability start AC: Brotherhood, since my AC2 disc is scratched and I don't suppose I can finish.

Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) I've been in Philly for a stable part of the week, and I'll be staying in Philly all through the weekend hanging with my pal Chester. All sorts of enjoyable can be had. Like immediately, I ate Dutch meals. We are a terribly boring individuals, we Dutch.

My BlizzCon advice: If you wish to grasp out with Fox, I recommend you get your request in forward of time, as a result of there are many of you, very few nights in stunning Southern California, and just one Fox. Further, I counsel anyone who isn't from an space with Jack in the Box eating places to go eat at a Jack in the Field restaurant. Oh my god.

Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) More LoL, I've a brand new champion to be taught! Additionally extra alt leveling in WoW and actually trying ahead to a different choose my adventure day Sunday; I am going to probably begin earlier (3 p.m.) this week and go until 5. I am going to also be livestreaming the adventure, so make sure to look at Twitter for the hyperlink and time!

Biggest BlizzCon blunder: not sporting comfortable and supportive footwear. Seriously, you stand and walk so much that you are a fool if you don't. Also, the amount of pain your toes will likely be in might be surprising. Also, drink / carry numerous water and attempt to eat outside of the convention center. Tons of excellent native places to nom things at which might be a quick walk from the convention middle.

Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I'm liking my military of premade and major-transferred shaman on the PTR. I also have a lone mage premade who was set up with spec/glyphs/keybinds/etc. and then promptly forgotten.

I have no BlizzCon advice, though I warning all Wow Insider meetup attendees to avoid eye contact with Fox. That is simply common sense, though.

(Glorious point. That is how I choose my prey. -- Fox)

Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Hoping for some high quality time with my DS, but I am not sure, as I will be working at my job, doing art, and it's Thanksgiving up here in Canada-land, so there's that. I will be heading out of city Sunday night time to see my family.

BlizzCon advice? Take the health-check:

Bring lots of water with you.

Wear comfy shoes (with insoles if essential). Remember to stretch your decrease back every hour or so!

Convey some protein-wealthy snacks with you -- natural meals bars, dry-roasted nuts (like almonds and cashews). Con food is overpriced and filled with crap, and it will keep you fuller longer. /health nerd

Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) (gplus.to/gomatgo) I'm a broken document. League of Legends and WoW.

Suggestions for BlizzCon: convey a bottle of water if you can, take things slow, put on comfy sneakers, and buy Mat McCurley drinks at the WoW Insider Reader Meetup.

Matt Low (@matticus) In a change of pace, taking part in on my Nintendo DS. Replaying some Closing Fantasy VI! My faaaaaavourite Closing Fantasy collection -- ever!

Matt Rossi (@matthewrossi) (gplus.to/MatthewWRossi) My hand is absolutely screwed up now, so unhealthy I do not assume I can play a lot of anything. ( plugins 'm typing this one-finger, hunt-and-peck fashion).

As for BlizzCon, I've by no means been.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Some Sword of the Stars with some buddies, for (possible) last sport before the sequel comes out. We'll ship the old woman off in type. I am going to even be getting some severe Minecraft time in since my guild's server was down last week. Need to make up for lost time!

It will solely be my second BlizzCon, but the most important factor I picked up last yr is to be really early to anything you want to go to -- panels or no matter. Aside from badge pickup on Thursday evening. It is open for hours and badges aren't limited in the identical manner seats or area is. No want to point out up early for that line; go later that evening and coast proper by to pickup.

Michael Gray (@writegray) I'll be taking pictures weddings by means of most of the wedding, which is at once thrilling and terrifying. I am not the pro of the workforce, so I except to spend loads of time going "Hurrr ..."
The weekend is the perfect time to kick again, loosen up and take pleasure in some sport time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite strategy to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the feedback what you are taking part in this weekend!
